Being…attentive, receptive, open, at ease…all create possibilities for the artist, real choice, no pointless mark marking nor dull repetition. Then each and every artistic decision is a delicious step in the journey…for something unknown, unique and fresh to reveal it’s self. It is in the letting go that the work shows its self and the artist finds real creativity. The work becomes vital, simple, great, true…authentic.
This seascape was painted in this way, my approach meant that I didn’t have a fixed notion of a result but knew the direction of travel. With each mark/colour decision I was open to what it needed, no over working, always sensing balance – in the process, not end gaining, breath happening. Staying connected, not ahead of myself…
